The number of salaried employees in Luxembourg has increased by 0.7% in the third quarter of 2017 and by 3.3% over the past 12 months.
This increase in the third quarter has been attributed to the creation of jobs in information and communication services (+ 6.4% over one year), as well as in specialised activities and support services (+ 5.8% over one year). In the case of the first sector, the favorable development comes mainly from computer programming activities, whilst growth in the second is due to accounting activities and cleaning services.
These two branches covered 20% of salaried employment and were responsible for 32% of net creations between the third quarter of 2016 and the third quarter of 2017.
Moreover, between the third quarter of 2016 and the third quarter of 2017, the number of cross-border workers evolved slightly faster than that of residents (+ 4.0% vs. + 2.8%).
Among residents, the number of workers from the European Union increased by 3.3%, while the number of non-EU workers increased by 11.0%.
