As of 7 March 2019, Nicolas Buck will replace Michel Wurth as President of the Union des Entreprises Luxembourgeoises (UEL).

At the end of 2018, Michel Wurth informed the Board of Directors of the UEL of his intention to end his term as President during the elections for the renewal of the Plenary Assembly of the Chamber of Commerce which will have place during the month of March.

During his presidency (since 2004), the role of UEL as the umbrella organisation of companies Luxembourg, bringing together the federations and professional chambers of employers, has significantly developed and the organisation has been recognised as a privileged interlocutor of public authorities and social partners in the framework of social dialogue bodies, economic and financial policy topics, taxation companies, labour law and social security. Similarly, the development of the INDR has greatly contributed to advancing the social and societal responsibility of companies, particularly in the field of health and safety at work and through the label "socially responsible enterprise".

With the support of its members, its Board of Directors and its Executive Committee, the UEL has accompanied and contributed to shaping the economic development experienced by Luxembourg since the 2000s. The UEL has reiterated its commitment in the interest of all companies regardless of their size and sector of activity and its determination to work towards a modern, innovative and efficient Luxembourg.

The members of the UEL have unanimously decided to propose to the General Assembly and the Board of Directors on 7 March to appoint Nicolas Buck as the new President of the UEL. Nicolas Buck is ready to take on this new responsibility and will give his mandate as President of FEDIL to devote himself fully to this task. Under his chairmanship, UEL, together with its members, will continue actively to meet the great challenge of tomorrow: the competitiveness and attractiveness of Luxembourg companies in a competitive international context.
