The traditional Luxembourg Christmas Market will take place this year between Thursday 23 November and Sunday 24 December 2017.

As in previous years, the Ville de Luxembourg (VdL) has informed associations wishing to sell their products to the solidarity market to raise funds for a charity of the possibility of reserving one of five chalets that will be installed on the Grand-Rue, at "Roude Pëtz".

In addition, five other chalets will be reserved for people who wish to sell their crafts or artistic creations during the Christmas market. Since it is often difficult for craftsmen, artists and private persons to finance the rental of a chalet and to ensure presence throughout the duration of the contract, the VdL has proposed to offer a cottage for one financial sum of €5 per day from Monday to Thursday and €25 per day on weekends.

Finally, the VdL will organise a second-hand market on Saturday 2 December 2017 from 9:00 to 17:00 at the Salle Victor Hugo in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg, where children's toys, clothing and other items will be on sale, as well as a winter garage sale on Sunday 3 December 2017, also from 9:00 to 17:00 at the Salle Victor Hugo.

Registrations for both contracts will be open from Monday 16 October 2017. The participation fee of €5 for a 4m x 2.50m site is to be paid in advance upon registration with the Service des fêtes et marchés (9, rue Chimay, Monday-Friday 8:00-12:00 and 14:00-16:00 or by appointment). Only private individuals selling goods from their own household may participate. Excluded from sale are all items which are prohibited by Luxembourg law, the sale of animals and food or drink.

Associations and individuals interested in renting a chalet as well as people wishing to participate in the second-hand market can obtain information either from the Service des fêtes et marches or by contacting Marie-France Lamesch (Petit Passage - 9, rue Chimay) via tel.: 4796 4299 or email: mflamesch@vdl.lu
