Luxembourg Minister of Health Lydia Mutsch gave a speech on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Psy - Psychesch Network Hëllef Dobaussen on Friday 18 May 2018 at Kulturfabrik in Esch.

The mission of Psy-Psychesch Network Hëllef Dobaussen a.s.b.l., which is part of the structures of out-of-hospital psychiatry, is to offer medico-psycho-social help to people who have a psychiatric problem.

The objective is to offer, following much demand, therapeutic responses that take into account the overall life situation of the person, not reducing the problem to only the medical aspect. The a.s.b.l. proposes an individualised care by a multidisciplinary team to a population with serious and often chronic psychopathologies.

In her address, Minister Mutsch summarised the history of the network as well as its current situation, highlighting its team of overe 50 employees across six different sites- one in Grevenmacher and five in Esch. She also noted that last year alone, the network received 158 new patients.

Moreover, Lydia Mutsch underlined the progress made over past years in psychiatric care, stating: “Today, the patient is no longer locked away. Today, there is no longer a single structure that will deal with the "insane". There are many structures within and outside the walls of a hospital.” She added that: “Today, the "mad man" is a human; a human that has a psychological illness; a patient with rights and duties. Today, this patient receives the best support supply for him/her.”

Psy Network includes the services: the "Oppen Dir" Consultation Centre, the "Supervised Housing Service", the "KanEl Centre" Parenting Service, the "Villa Reebou" Day Centre and the "KasparHaus" Meeting Centre in Esch- sur-Alzette, the "Psy Grevenmacher Network" consultation centre and the "Dillendapp" meeting centre in Grevenmacher.
