As part of the development of electromobility in Luxembourg, 210 "Chargy" public charging stations have so far been installed across the country.
Currently, 2,850 people subscribe to the Chargy platform whose terminals are equipped with a uniform means of payment by means of the Verkéiersverbond multifunctional "mKaart" smart card. When charging their electric cars or plug-in hybrids, 2,850 subscribers consumed between 25,000 and 32,000 kWh on public charging points each month so far this year. The consumption of this amount of 100% green energy corresponds to a total monthly mileage that ranges, depending on the type of vehicle, from 125,000 to 160,000 km.
Assured by the distribution system operators, the deployment of 800 charging stations of up to 22 kW for 100% electric cars as well as for plug-in hybrid vehicles is planned gradually until 2020. Distributed over the entire national territory, 400 terminals will be installed on P + R allowing a reduction of commuters on public transport and 400 on public parking spaces and public car parks in municipalities.
Each terminal is equipped with two charging points with a "Type 2" connector. Thus, a total of 1,600 parking spaces will be dedicated to charging cars. Designed to integrate all other existing compatible kiosks in Luxembourg, the public charging infrastructure is based on a common central computer system that allows the electronic management of charging terminals and the communication of data between the charging terminals and the 14 providers. charging service that currently offer their charging services on the Chargy platform.
