The CFL FLEX Carsharing initiative has opened new stations in Dommeldange and Bonnevoie, as well as introducing an additional car to the Hesperange station.

Set up by the CFL, Luxembourg's railways, the two new FLEX stations in Dommeldange and Bonnevoie will considerably increase the availability of the car-sharing service in the capital. In addition, the FLEX station in Hesperange will receive one more vehicle, initially until the end of May.

The new FLEX station in Dommeldange is located at the station, whilst "carsharers" in Bonnevoie can now borrow a FLEX vehicle in Rue de Pont-Rémy. The CFL chose to add these two new locations in the hope of offering "the possibility to combine rail transport and individual transport in a very simple way", according to Jürgen Berg, Managing Director of FLEX. Like all FLEX vehicles, the cars at the two new FLEX stations are thus accessible to everyone, not only rail users.

In order to increase its attractiveness, FLEX has focused not only on availability, but also on driving pleasure. To achieve this goal, the carsharing service offers BMW 118i vehicles at these new stations in addition to 11 BMW i3 electric cars that can be charged at the various "Chargy" stations. The additional car for Hesperange is also a BMW 118i. It is planned for a period of three months to avoid a "temporary bottleneck" in the availability of vehicles offered by FLEX.

Similarly considered an advantage of FLEX is its simplicity: to access it, users need only register online at flex.lu and withdraw a FLEX card at one of the 14 points of issue (CFL and commune stations). Three subscriptions are available, offering customers flexible access to more than 80 FLEX cars in 30 FLEX stations. Costs are incurred only for use; fuel, insurance, maintenance and FLEX service are all included in the package price.
