Luxembourg racecar driver Dylan Pereira was forced to withdraw from the recent Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2018 race in Silverstone (UK) due to aggression from his competitors, thus pushing him from 2nd to 3rd place overall in the championship.

The aggression of his opponents on the track prevented the Luxembourger from scoring points for the championship this past weekend in Silverstone.

Pereira got off to a good start during the race and was one of the fastest drivers on the track as well as third fastest on the starting grid, just 0.157 seconds off the pole. Contrary to his usual practice, however, the MOMO Megatron Lechner Racing driver failed to make the perfect start. During the first round, pressured by his opponents, he was forced to widen a turn, lost three positions, but continued in the group leaders with all possibilities open.

In the seventh lap, when the Luxembourger followed the drivers ahead en route to win positions, he suffered an aggressive blow from the Frenchman Julien Andlauer on the rear wheel of his Porsche GT3 Cup type 2, which destroyed the rim and the tyre and forced him to abandon the race.

Despite this withdrawal, Dylan Pereira lost only one position in the overall standings and is now in 3rd place in the championship.

Dylan Pereira will return to the track in two weeks, between 20-22 July, for the 5th race of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup on the Hockenheim circuit, which opens the German Grand Prix in Formula 1.

The winners of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup Silverstone were: 1st - Florian Latorre (FR); 2nd - Michael Ammermüller (DE); 3rd - Mattia Drudi (IT).

The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup general classification is now as follows: 1st - Michael Ammermüller (DE) 65 points; 2nd - Nick Yelloly (GB) 56 points; 3rd - Dylan Pereira (LU) 46 points.
