Luxembourg racecar driver Dylan Pereira placed 9th in the sixth round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2018, held over the weekend in Hungary.

This past weekend, the sixth race promised to be difficult. In the timed practice, Dylan Pereira started off with the second fastest time until one of his laps was cancelled due to exceeding the limits of the track. Then having gone back to his box, he could not return to the track until six minutes from the end of the session, when practically all the other drivers had made their last laps. As such, the Luxembourger placed 12th in the practice round.

In the race itself, however, Dylan Pereira made a good start and immediately gained two positions. Nevertheless, a touch at the end of the 28 Porsches GT3 Cup bunch forced the entry of the safety car, losing the surprise effect of the first tours usually used by Dylan Pereira to overcome his opponents. After the restart of the race, the Luxembourgish driver immediately put pressure on the driver ahead of him, eventually passing the latter in the fifth of 14 laps.

On the ninth lap, in an attempt to win a new place, he took a small push that forced him slightly out of the track, thus losing him a position which he later gained back in the 13th lap. In a circuit where it is very difficult to overtake, Dylan Pereira gained three positions during the race, finishing in 9th place, just over 0.1 seconds from the driver who finished in front of him.

The points earned allowed Dylan Pereira to maintain 3rd place in the overall championship, with the same points as the Austrian Thomas Preining, who won the sixth race, and France's Julien Andlauer, who was second.

The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will now take a break of a month, but Dylan Pereira will continue on the track by participating in the races of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. Next weekend, the Luxembourgish driver will compete in the Nürburgring for the fifth and sixth races of this German competition where, having previously won 2nd and 3rd place, he has already been on the podium twice.
