Following a recent clampdown on the A6 motorway which started during the morning rush-hour traffic, today it was the turn of the A3 motorway to be subject to controls by Luxembourg's traffic police.

The Grand Ducal Police were ensuring that motorists did not use the breakdown lane, and that motorcyclists did not pass other road users by travelling between the two lanes, both of which are contrary to the Highway Code.

In total, the Grand Ducal Police fined 64 drivers who were caught red-handed today.

On 2 May 2018, the traffic police were out in force on the A6 motorway; they apprehended 22 drivers who broke the Highway Code, including one driver who travelled 3km along the breakdown lane at 90 km/h.

According to the police, such checks will continue.
