Early today, Tuestad 8 May 2018, the traffic police section of the Grand Ducal Police operated a control on the A3 motorway, from this morning's rush-hour.

The reason for the control was to do with traffic regulations concerning motorists driving up the breakdown lane (otherwise known as the hard shoulder), as well as motorcyclists riding their machine between the two lanes of traffic: both are offences under Luxembourg's Highway Code.

Today, a total of 64 motorists were caught breaking either of these regulations and were fined accordingly.

Today's control follows a similar one on the A6 motorway on 2 May 2018 when 22 motorists were caught and fined, including one motorist who drove along the breakdown lane for 3km at 90 km/h.

The Grand Ducal Police has confirmed that the traffic police will continue to operate such checks which are aimed at improving road safety.
