Luxembourg's Ministry of the Economy and the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure have announced that the experimental site between Luxembourg, Germany and France reflects the common desire of the three countries to promote the development and testing of automated and connected driving technologies in a real and cross-border context. With a total length of 214 km, the experimental cross-border site covers the road network of the southern regions of Luxembourg, the Metz region in France and the Saarland in Germany.
In order to encourage the implementation of practical use cases and the initiation of relevant studies, the Luxembourg, German and French governments are launching a call for expressions of interest addressed to businesses, the academic world, researchers and local and/or regional authorities and communities considering a project that falls under one of the priority thematic areas such as intelligent transport systems, cross-border mobility services, data management resulting from the connected driving as well as the impacts of automated driving in terms of traffic fluidity or emission reduction.
In cooperation with their German and French counterparts, representatives of the Ministry of the Economy and the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructures have drawn up a book of common intentions which details these different priority thematic areas to consider for collaboration as well as the conditions of use of the experimental site.
