The Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) will be in Luxembourg from 17-22 October 2018 to play host to a FIL Development Clinic.
The FIL Development Clinic staff will include Jack Emmer, Jack Kaley, Joanna Lignelli, Jane Pirie and Rick Mercurio.
“This is another great opportunity for the Federation of International Lacrosse to help in the Development of Lacrosse World Wide,” said Mercurio. “The location of Luxembourg is such that interested players may attend from several surrounding countries. The Luxembourg Lacrosse Federation is making every effort in their preparation to make this clinic a success.”
The staff will conduct a presentation on Thursday evening, 18 October, for players, coaches, teachers, administrators and affiliated sport’s government officials. They will discuss and review; the history of lacrosse, basics of boys’ and girls’ lacrosse, history of lacrosse in Luxembourg and developing and growing lacrosse in Luxembourg.
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 19-21 October, the staff will hold on-field clinics for players and coaches. Fundamentals skills and basic concepts will be introduced. The staff will progress to offensive and defensive game concepts, added Mecurio.
As part of the objective, drills and coaching points will be introduced to assist in the continuation of the development of lacrosse in Luxembourg. As part of the program, the Luxembourg Lacrosse Federation has reached out to the local ministry to contact area teachers inviting them to attend.
“The goal of the FIL development clinics is to broaden the understanding of the game of Lacrosse,” said FIL CEO Jim Scherr. “Continental Europe continues to be an active and growing area for the worldwide growth of Lacrosse. These clinics are critical to both education and exposure for the sport.”
