On Wednesday afternoon, the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg held the swearing in of six new judges, as follows:

- Michail Vilaras (Greece), Judge at the Court of Justice, from 7 October 2015 to 6 October 2021.

- Eugene Regan (Ireland), Judge at the Court of Justice, from 7 October 2015 to 6 October 2021.

- Ian Forrester (United Kingdom), Judge at the General Court (Tribunal) to replace Nicholas Forwood, for the remainder of the latter's term of office from 1 October 2015 to 31 August 2019.

- Manuel Campos Sánchez-Bordona (Spain), Advocate General of the Court of Justice, from 7 October 2015 to 6 October 2021.

- Henrik Saugmandsgaard øe, Advocate General of the Court of Justice, from 7 October 2015 to 6 October 2021.

- Michal Bobek, Advocate General of the Court of Justice

In addition, eight judges to the Court of Justice of the European Union were appointed by the representatives of the governments of the member states on 1 April, for a further six years from 7 October 2015 to 6 October 2021: 

- Mr Marek Safjan (Poland)

- Mr François Biltgen (Luxembourg)

- Mr Siniša Rodin (Croatia)

- Mr Allan Rosas (Finland)

- Ms Küllike Jürimäe (Estonia)

- Mr Daniel Šváby (Slovakia)

- Mr Endre Juhász (Hungary)

- Mr Lars Bay Larsen (Denmark)

Also, Ms Eleanor Sharpston (United Kingdom) and Ms Juliane Kokott (Germany) were reappointed as advocates-general for the same six-year-period.
