Luxembourg Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Jean Asselborn will undertake an official visit to Armenia and Georgia on 27-28 March 2018.

At the invitation of Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, Jean Asselborn will travel to Yerevan later today, before continuing to Tbilisi on 28 March, at the invitation of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Mikheil Janeliidze.

In Yerevan, Minister Asselborn will be received in audience by President Serge Sargsyan, before meeting with President-elect Armen Sarkissian and his Armenian counterpart, Edward Nalbandian. Jean Asselborn will also hold a speech at the Diplomatic Academy and will take the opportunity offered by his visit to Yerevan to inaugurate the First Honorary Consulate of the Grand Duchy in Armenia.

During his visit to Tbilisi, Jean Asselborn will be received in audience by President Giorgi Margvelashvili and will meet Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, his Georgian counterpart Mikheil Janeliidze, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Giorgi Gakharia, as well as Parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze.

Central to the discussions will be the strengthening of bilateral ties, especially in the economic field, as well as the Eastern Partnership of the European Union. Discussions will also focus on the regional situation.
