Prior to the plenary session, Prime Minister and Minister of State Xavier Bettel held a bilateral meeting with the President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, to discuss major issues of European political affairs.

At the plenary session of the European Parliament, Xavier Bettel presented his ideas on the future of Europe, commenting on Luxembourg’s support for the EU as well as the need for “a more integrated European Union.” He added: "Let's accelerate it by making it more in line with the expectations of our citizens." Moreover, Xavier Bettel highlighted the need to strengthen the EU and give it the means and capacities to respond to current and future challenges.

On the subject of competitiveness, the Prime Minister recalled that a competitive, prosperous and open Europe is the best guarantor for protecting the European social model.
