Luxembourg Minister of Finance Pierre Gramegna undertook a financial mission to Switzerland from 4-6 June 2018, during which he discussed the Grand Duchy’s role in EU financial strategies.

On the occasion of this financial mission, organised by Luxembourg for Finance, Minister Gramegna was accompanied by a delegation of more than 60 professionals from the Luxembourg financial sector.

In this context, he had interviews with senior managers of major Swiss financial groups to discuss with them their development strategy in the European Union and the role that Luxembourg plays in this context. In Basel, the minister notably had discussions with players in the economic and financial world.

In Zurich and Geneva, the Minister of Finance gave the opening address of the conferences organised by Luxembourg for Finance dedicated to professionals in the financial industry. In his speech, he highlighted in particular the close ties between Switzerland and Luxembourg, as well as the complementarity between the financial sectors.

In order to take stock of the latest Swiss developments and developments in the field of fintech and to strengthen the links with Zurich in this area, the Minister also visited F10, a fintech incubator, to discuss possibilities of collaboration with LHoFT .

Pierre Gramegna commented: "With €12 billion of exchanges in financial services between our countries in 2017, Switzerland is one of Luxembourg's leading non-EU partners and this excellent result is based on exemplary complementarity between our respective financial sectors."
