Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel is presently participating in the informal summit of Heads of State/Government, on the theme of migration, in Salzburg, Austria.
Yesterday, on the first day of this 2-day summit, the Prime Minister attended an informal working dinner mainly devoted to the theme of migration. He stated: "The challenge of migration will not disappear overnight. This challenge will accompany us for decades to come. Solidarity between Member States will be the only way to find an adequate response at European level".
He also emphasised links with the African continent: "We need to help young Africans develop a perspective for their lives. In this sense, trade and investment with Africa should become more important. Africa should not only be a supplier of raw materials in the future".
The summit is taking place on 19 and 20 September 2018. Prime Minister and Minister of State Xavier Bettel travelled to Salzburg at the invitation of the Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria, Sebastian Kurz.
