On Friday 8 December 2023, Luxembourg’s Minister for Home Affairs, Léon Gloden, swore in the new mayors and aldermen of the municipalities of Mamer and Schieren.

By Grand Ducal Decree of 6 December 2023, Luc Feller has been appointed mayor of the municipality of Mamer and Jean-Paul Zeimes has been appointed mayor of the municipality of Schieren. The former replaces Gilles Roth, who is the new Minister of Finance, whilst the latter replaces Eric Thill, who served as Mayor of Schieren until his recent government appointment as Minister of Culture.

By ministerial decree of 8 December 2023, Edouard Buchette was appointed alderman of the municipality of Mamer and Kevin Duarte Fonseca has been appointed alderman of the municipality of Schieren.

On Friday at 11:00, the aforementioned parties took the following oath, as prescribed by Article 6 of the amended municipal law of 13 December 1988, in front of Minister Gloden: "I swear to observe the Constitution and the laws and to fulfil my function with integrity, accuracy and impartiality."

These new appointments resulted from the establishment of a new Luxembourg Government and the changes it brought to the makeup of parliament and municipal councils.
