On Friday evening, St George's International School held their Easter Ball at the Hotel Parc Belle Vue in Luxembourg's city centre.

In previous years the schools has hosted the Comenius International Ballroom Dancing Festival; since this is now over, the school has decided to continue the event, but just for the school and its pupils.

Under the organisation and watchful eye of Cary Cooper, who led the dancing by example along with his wife, the dance floor was full of young dancers who had gone to great lengths to spruce up for the occasion, with many a dickie bow and flowing gown to be seen swirling around the dance floor, moving to the rythyms of Ballroom Dance and also more contemporary music.

With well in excess of 150 students in attendance, in addition to members of staff, governors, parents and VIP guests, they were treated to a range of dance music including the cha-cha, waltz, jive, quickstep and salsa, before the school band George & The Dragons - under the tutelage of music teacher James Reilly - performed a set of no less that eight songs in total. In addition, Carlo Stasi Ms Aliona Filko - who represent Luxembourg in competitions across Europe - performed a Latin showcase.

A raffle was also held to raise funds for the United World Schools charity to support a school in Cambodia.
