On Friday 16 November 2018, Nick Butter, an inspirational runner, endurance athlete and motivational speaker, started his 87th Marathon from St George’s International School in Luxembourg-Hamm.

Around the world in 550 days!

Nick’s aim is to run a marathon in every country in the world. He started his challenge on 6 January 2018 and wants to finish in Athens, Greece in November 2019. He will be running through some of the most dangerous and hostile places in the world, in extreme climate conditions; taking over 220 flights and 45 train journeys. Primary and Secondary St George’s students helped Nick warm up on the School’s running track and also joined him for a short run behind the School grounds.

The British Ambassador to Luxembourg, John Marshall, local supporters and St George’s staff all started the marathon off with Nick, some of whom will run with him for the entire time in Luxembourg, finishing in the city centre.

Nick’s goal is to raise £250,000 for Prostate Cancer UK by the end of his mission.
