Luxembourg railway network CFL will be offering a new direct train from Luxembourg to Dusseldorf from 10 December 2017.

In collaboration with the Deutsche Bahn (DB), CFL will soon provide a direct rail connection between Luxembourg and North Rhine-Westphalia, with trains travelling between Luxembourg and Trier via Koblenz, Bonn and Cologne to Dusseldorf once daily. Previously, travellers had to change trains in Koblenz.

The DB and the Luxembourg National Railways Company (CFL) are offering this new route together, in close cooperation with the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Economy, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture (MWVLW), the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructures of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (MDDI) and the 'Zweckverband Schienenpersonennahverkehr Rheinland-Pfalz' association.

The CFL KISS railcar is a short-distance train that offers the characteristics of a long-distance IC train, such as the ability to reserve seating and take bicycles, as well as the maximum speed of 160 km / hr. h. There will also be a food offered on the lines. Between Trier and Koblenz, the train will operate as "Regional-Express" at short-haul rates and on the Koblenz-Dusseldorf section as "InterCity" at long distance.

Indeed, today marked the first journey of this line, followed by festivities in Trier in the presence of Birgit Bohle, Chairman of the Board of DB Fernverkehr AG, and Marc Hoffmann, Director Activities CFL passengers, as well as Luxembourg Minister Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure François Bausch and German Secretary of State for Economy Andy Becht.

The train departs at 06:05 daily from Luxembourg and arrives at 10:09 in Dusseldorf. In the afternoon, the return from Dusseldorf takes place at 13:50 in the direction of Luxembourg, where the train arrives at 17:33. In Cologne, a connection to Berlin is available in both directions on the same platform.
