Today marked the signature of the Multiannual Agreement between the state and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST).

On 18 January 2018, Minister for Higher Education and Research Marc Hansen and Georges Bourscheid, chairman of the board of directors, and Fernand Reinig, chief executive officer, signed the Multiannual Agreement setting LIST’s funding to €186.07 million for the next three years.

In the framework of this multi-annual agreement, which covers the years 2018 to 2021, the state allocations to the LIST public research centre will amount to €186.07 million, an increase of some 18% compared to the multi-year agreement 2014-2017. These state allocations will enable LIST to develop its three priority thematic areas, namely environmental research and innovation; development of innovative IT solutions; advanced research on materials in applicable technologies.

In total, the State will invest €1.44 billion in research and higher education for the period from 2018 to 2021. Financial resources made available by the state are growing by €284 million, corresponding to an increase of 25% compared to the period from 2014 to 2017.
