On Sunday evening, the Purple Lounge at the Casino2000 in Mondorf-les-Bains celebrated its twice-annual menu makeover.

This April, not only has the menu presentation completely changed (8-page A4 format), but it has made adjustments to almost every section:

• The fried finger food now also includes jalapeños & cheese
• The choice of entrées now includes an Avocado & Shrimp option
• The Caesar Salads now has a Prawn option, in addition to Chicken or Salmon, and the vegetarian option has changed to Caesar “Fibres & Vitamines” for the mire health-conscious
• The burgers selection now includes a Chicken Burger option
• The Traditional Dishes sees the return of the Prawns & Tomato Spaghetti dish
• The Brasserie section includes Lamb Shank, Pavé de Saumon, and Filet if Sea Bream
• The Beef options now also includes a 300g option, and
• The Desserts has included a couple of new options too, including a Raspberry Tart

Prices for the three-course menus (different options) is at €17.90 and €20.90 per person.

The Purple Lounge is open seven days/week from midday until 23:00, with Fridays and Saturdays until midnight.

With a tagline of “Food & Music”, the Purple Lounge regularly hosts live music concerts, including tribute bands, as well as both touring and up-and-coming local bands. Access to these concerts is normally at a nominal price (<€10), with special menus to go with certain concerts for an all-inclusive price.

Following dinner, at 21:00 sharp, the evening’s concert started, “Tribute to the Divas by Emilie Duval”; singing a wide variety of classics, some in English and others in French, accompanied on keyboards and, later on, also percussion, bass guitar and lead guitar.

Apart from a couple of her own songs, the hits she belted out included, for example, “Memory” made famous by Barbara Streisland, “The Power of Love” by Céline Dion, “Saving all my love for you” and “I will always love you” by Whitney Houston.
