Brown Brothers Harriman won a thrilling final against Eirelux in the final of the Luxembourg Corporate Touch Tournament this week.

This year’s competition has seen the largest ever turn out. 12 teams from companies such as JP Morgan, Amazon, KPMG and Intertrust, have battled and laughed their way through 8 weeks of friendly social completion, the key criteria being that each team must have two women on the pitch at any time, and it is obligatory to stay after the game for a pitch-side BBQ and beers.

Touch is a non-contact variant of rugby, which makes it a great social sport. Over 100 players participated in this years competition, with ages ranging from 14 to 55 of whom 30% were ladies.

For those who may be interested in playing, why not sign up for the annual Kick Cancer into Touch Tournament being held at Cessange on 16 July? This is a great all-day family event with face painting and bouncy castle for children. This will be the 13th edition of the tournament and all funds raised go to charities. Luxembourg Touch is a section of the Rugby Club de Luxembourg (RCL). Touch is a new sport originating in the 1960’s as a non-contact form of Rugby league. It’s a 6 a-side game rolling substitutions played on a half size rugby pitch. Because the game is not based on physical contact, but on speed, skill and strategy, it is played by both sexes, and very often in mixed teams.
