The 87th annual Braderie in Luxembourg city centre is being held on Monday 5 September 2016, with Saturday 3 September and Sunday 4 September (Fouersonndeg) expected to be busy shopping days too.
This will be the biggest “Braderie” of the year in the Grand Duchy and will take place on Kiermessmeindeg, the traditional Monday fair. The Braderie entails that circa 400 shops will have great deals, such as reduced prices, and there will be food and fun games. Many shops will sell their wares from outside their stores, as well as inside, accompanied by various attractions, including music.
The Braderie event will see the train station district and the city centre be turned into pedestrian zones. Visitors are also encouraged to try out the traditional Luxembourgish Gromperekichelcher or Grillwurst accompanied by a glass of Kippchen (Luxembourgish champagne)…
On both Saturday 3 September and Sunday 4 September, all city buses (lines 1-31 inclusive) will be available free-of-charge. On the Sunday, Line #1 will link the P&R Bouillon with Luxembourg-Gare and the old town (Bld Royal), running from 12:47 to 18:35.
On Monday 5 September, visitors to the Braderie are urged to take public transport into the city, with the P+R Bouillon and the P+R Luxembourg-Sud, as well as Kirchberg car-parks, all served by municipal buses to Luxembourg-gare and the old town. The car-parks at Place de l’Europe (Kirchberg) and Fort Wedell are both free-of-charge on Monday.
