From 1 to 13 May 2018, Luxembourg will witness 13 days of awareness-raising around fair trade; 13 days to discover Fairtrade products; 13 days to strengthen one's commitment to producers and workers in the South...

On Friday 27 April, the Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg NGO launched the 6th edition of the national "Lëtz 'Step to Fairtrade" awareness campaign. The participants met at the Neien Tramsschapp, in a tramway train, the starting point of the first awareness campaign of the 2018 edition. More than a campaign, "Lëtz 'Step to Fairtrade" has become a social movement that puts ahead of the men and women who are the faces of fair transition in Luxembourg.

Background information

In 1992, the Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg association was founded. The aim of the founding members of the NGO, which at the time still bore the name TransFair-Minka, was to improve the living and working conditions of producers and workers in the South through fair trade relations.

As an independent organisation, Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg is committed to fair trade and sustainable consumption in Luxembourg. Its fields of activity are mainly in the following fields: awareness raising, development education, political work as well as management and control of the Fairtrade label on the Luxembourg market.

Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg is a member of the international Fairtrade system. It brings together the parent organization Fairtrade International, national organisations in 25 countries and three continental producer networks. The international network sets the Fairtrade standards valid worldwide. Producer representatives own 50% of the votes and therefore have equal power in all strategic decisions. Compliance with standards throughout the entire supply chain is controlled by the independent certification and control organisation FLOCERT GmbH.
