With Friday 1 June being International Milk Day, Lidl has announced that it sells 5,000 litres of Luxembourgish milk every week since it launched a range of Luxlait products in its 9 stores across the Grand Duchy.

Since 26 February, the Lidl supermarket chain has introduced 5 Luxlait brand milk products into its range. This range of fresh milk, UHT milk and beaten milk has been a big hit with the Luxembourgish consumer, with some 5,000 litres sold each week in the 9 stores of the brand.

"We will continue to strengthen locally and qualitatively our offer of Luxembourgish products," said a spokesperson from the discounter.

28% rise in sales of Luxembourg dairy products

In February, in addition to the 5 reference milk products, the brand also introduced 9 Luxlait dairy products in its Luxembourg supermarkets. This assortment composed in particular of fresh cheese, cream, shaker macchiato or Rose butter which meets the demand of the Luxembourgish consumer to see more local products in store. "From February to today, we see a 28% increase in sales of these Luxlait products. This fits perfectly with our ambition to increase the sale of local products by 10% every year," explained Julien Wathieu, Lidl spokesperson.

Made in Luxembourg

To facilitate the shopping experience of its customers, Lidl also opts for easy identification of its Luxembourgish products in stores. For example, on the packaging and posters of some sixty such products, the Luxembourgish flag and the logo "Made in Luxembourg" can be found on various Luxembourgish products including wine, beer, water, beef and flour.
