Luxembourgish honey schnapps "Mellis" was today introduced into Cactus' local product assortment.
Today, on 20 July 2018, the Cactus assortment of local products was enriched by another traditional product: the Mellis "Hunnegdrëpp", a 100% Luxembourgish honey schnapps.
The Mellis recipe, named after a Latin term for "what is made of honey", is made from 100% Luxembourgish honey combined with a mixture of herbs that gives it a special sweet/spicy taste. The recipe was developed by two young Luxembourg entrepreneurs Marc Ewert and Paul Thein in close collaboration with the "Diedenacker" family distillery
The goal of the young designers was to create a typical Luxembourgish product but with a touch of originality and modernity, both in terms of taste and looks. Thus, the recipe was designed to make Mellis a versatile schnapps, mixing honey and herbs, to be used in aperitifs such as 'Mellis Highball', a blend of Mellis and Ginger Ale or the creation of various cocktails.
Mellis is already available at Cactus Belle Etoile, Bascharage, Esch / Lallange, Remich, Bettembourg, Howald, Mersch, Echternach, Kayl and Bereldange.
