Opening of Naturata store in Howald;

On Thursday 18 October 2018, Naturata opened its 10th organic foodstore in Luxembourg, in Howald, with guests of honour Fernand Etgen, Minister of Agriculture, Carole Dieschbourg, Minister for the Environment, and Lydie Polfer, Mayor of Luxembourg city.

The Naturata Bio Marché store stocks produce from organic farmers at the Orchiment Centre in Rangwee. Particular emphasis was placed on the new "fair & associative" label.

Thirty years ago, Luxembourg organic farmers and gardeners organised themselves in a cooperative to better market their produce. Since then, the Bio-Bauere-Genossenschaft Lëtzebuerg (BIOG) has created a whole network of local organic marketing initiatives, in which the retailer Naturata plays an important role. Also for committed consumers, because the demand for organic food is growing - and the structures around the BIOG cooperative are growing.

In addition to the Naturata Bio Marché opening in Howald - with a focus on food - are also the specialist shop Naturata beauty & culture and Naturata Bio Resto & Café with catering.

29 years after Rollingergrund launched the first joint point of sale of the Luxembourg organic farmers under the name Naturata, there are already three Naturata locations in the capital, including in Merl.

In their words of greeting, the three guests of honour expressed that the opening would be a further success for Luxembourg's organic farmers, which is explicitly wanted and strongly supported by dedicated consumers.

Agriculture Minister Fernand Etgen cited recent statistics, which attest to the Grand Duchy's annual per capita consumption of organic products worth €188 - €18 more than last year. He praised Naturata as a "major player in the marketing of organic farming products" in Luxembourg. In this context, the Minister congratulated Naturata's Managing Director Sigmund Walbaum explicitly on the involvement of organic farmers in the other marketing stages. Minister Etgen also praised the close connection between producers and consumers and the "full respect for all stages of the value chain".

The pioneering role of BIOG and Naturata in organic marketing was also emphasised by Mayor Lydie Polfer. As a self-confessed Naturata customer, she referred to the preference of Naturata's 100% organic certified food range. This makes purchasing much easier if the best and healthiest possible nutrition of family and children are at heart.

The Minister of Agriculture, Carole Dieschbourg, warmly welcomed the "léif Famill vu organic producers" and recalled how her mother took her to small health food stores, whose wonderfully fruity produce is also present in the modern Naturata Bio Marchés equipped with sustainable technology and organic farm shops of today. Minister Dieschbourg also praised Naturata as a "pioneer in associative and cooperative action".
