Kleos Space, Luxembourg's state-of-the-art space technology operator and based at Technoport in Esch-Belval, which will launch and operate its first terrestrial observation satellite system in early 2019, has announced the creation (on 3 April 2018) of its first wholly owned subsidiary abroad, registered in Australia, Kleos Space Pty Ltd.

The subsidiary Kleos Space (Asia Pacific), which will be located in Canberra, Australia, will allow the company to align with the recent promise of the Australian government to invest €313 million (500 million Australian dollars) for enhance Australia's space intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (RSR) capabilities.

Erik Tyler, Executive Director of Kleos Space and Australian, will lead the regional subsidiary as Managing Director. Erik Tyler served in the Australian Defense Forces as a communications expert-operator in the country and in active deployment. He will rely on his contacts with Defence, as well as his experience of public companies and the capital market, to change the Australian presence of Kleos Sapce.

Kleos Space s.à rl, which will make its introduction to the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) in the spring of 2018, announced at the beginning of the month the signing of an Authorization to Proceed (ATP) with GomSpace A/S, member of GomSpace Group AB, which deals with the delivery of the 1st constellation of a total of 20 constellation systems.

The data that Kleos satellites will gather by geolocated radio transmissions, will monitor borders, protect assets and save lives, and will be provided to users around the world as Activity Based Intelligence. They will be sold for search and rescue, maritime security and defence intelligence, by users for whom the quality of geospatial and electromagnetic information is essential. Exploration's mission will provide a day-to-day service with a complete constellation that provides global observation in near real time.​
