A new training programme has launched in Luxembourg aimed at guiding those wishing to be sports coaches towards this career path.

Focused on a programme of 150 hours and comprising 3 modules, this training is open to candidates whose common goal is to become a sports coach. Indeed, this career choice integrates various skills ranging from nutrition to psychology through training to the goal of comprehensive care of individuals.

The main ambition of this programme, launched by personal trainer David Blondiau who has been in the profession in the Grand Duchy for 20 years, is to support an individual in a process of total change to their body, behaviour and lifestyle. Health professionals (dieticians, physiotherapists, osteopaths) will transmit the necessary knowledge related to their expertise.

For David Blondiau, the founder of the programme, it is essential to deliver this complete teaching while respecting the field of skills and ethics in the profession. He commented:  "It is time to define and frame the profession to fit into a field of action and clearly established capabilities without interference with the medical community."

This training programme is accredited by the Ministry of Education and the Economy. In addition to providing a solid background and constant evaluations, it is largely subsidised by the Luxembourg State. Open to all, it will take place in the Hesperange premises from 15 September 2018. Future candidates can directly contact the centre for more information.
