CONTENT: The long-awaited DIFC Wills and Probate Registry (“DIFC WPR”) has been live since 30th April 2015. The DIFC WPR aims to provide non-Muslim individuals over the age of 21 with the ability to register English language wills that will allow any assets physically located or registered in the Emirate of Dubai to be transferred upon death according to their wishes. UAE resident status is not a criteria. As such, the DIFC WPR represents a fundamental step forward for the jurisdiction but it also constitutes a very versatile tool in international succession and tax planning.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND? Everyone involved in wealth planning and preservation, including, but not limited to, all estate and trust professionals, lawyers, accountants, trust officers, current STEP members, applicants and other providers of ancillary services.
