STEP Benelux has announced details of a Lunch & Learn Meeting being held on Tuesday 8 February 2017 at 12:00, at the Cercle Munster (5-7 rue Munster, L-2160 Luxembourg-Grund).

The presentation on “Transfer of personal data in the context of EU/US privacy shield and general data protection regulation" will be given by Renaud LE SQUEREN, Esq., of DSM Avocats à la Cour.

Renaud LE SQUEREN, Partner in charge of the IP/IT Department at DSM Avocats à la Cour, has in-depth knowledge of data protection and e-commerce issues. He is vice-president of the Luxembourg E-commerce Association (ecom.lu), and in charge of the Legal Commission of the Luxembourg Association for Data Protection (apdl.lu) and therefore coordinates various working groups on e-commerce and data protection regulations. He regularly presents at various workshops and conferences on Data Protection and IT/ IP matters.

The presentation will (I) retrace the main obligations regarding the transfer of personal data within the EEA or outside the EEA pursuant to current Luxembourg legislation; (II) provide specific analysis of such transfer to the USA under the Privacy Shield agreement recently reached between the European Commission and US government; and,  (III) end with a comprehensive overview of the topic within the scope of the new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
