A green bond of the German government-owned development bank Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) was today listed and admitted to trading on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange (LuxSE).
This is the largest bond of its type this year, with an issue amount of €1.5 billion, and has matched 2014's record for a green bond. Last year's record was also listed in Luxembourg and issued by KfW.
This latest issue is a tranche of KfW's Euro Medium Term Note programme, bearing an annual interest of 0.125% and maturing in 2020.
It was announced that the proceeds of the issue will contribute to project financing and loans under KfW's 'Renweable Energies - Standard' programme, aimed at promoting the development of electricity from renewable resources. The objective of all projects under this programme is the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
In 2007, LuxSE represented the first stock exchange to list a green bond and has since accompanied issuers in the development of the ESG investments segment.
