Luxembourg swimmers Raphaël Stacchiotti and Julie Meynen will be taking part in the 55th Internazionali di Nuoto Settecolli swimming compettiion in Rome from 29 June to 1 July 2018. 

Teams from 28 nations will use this competition as a dress rehearsal for the four-week European Championships in Glasgow. Among them are numerous medalists at World Championships and Olympic Games.

In this context, Raphaël Stacchiotti will compete in the 200m race against Olympic champion Chad Le Clos from South Africa and in the 400m against Hungarian  David Verraszto, who came 2nd in the World Championship 2017, among other athletes.

In the 50m freestyle race, Luxembourg's fastest swimmer, Julie Meynen, will compete against the likes of Swedish world record holder Sarah Sjöström and 2016 Olympic champion Pernille Blume from Denmark, as well as 2012 Olympic champion Ranomi Kromowidjojo from the Netherlands.

For both Luxembourg athletes, the race in Rome is a stopover on the way to the European Championships in Glasgow, taking place from 3 to 8 August.
