Luxembourg swimmers Raphaël Stacchiotti, Julien Henx and Pit Brandenburger will represent the Grand Duchy at the "50th World Military Swimming Championships", taking place in Samara, Russia from 16-22 August 2018.

Raphaël Stacchiotti, Julien Henx and Pit Brandenburger have been chosen to represent the Luxembourg Swimming Federation and the elite sports section of the Luxembourg Army at this anniversary edition.

The previous edition of the World Military Championship took place in December 2017 in Rio de Janeiro where Raphael Stacchiotti won a bronze medal in the 200 metres and Julien Henx finished fourth in the 100 metres freestyle. In attempt to build on these successes in Russia, both athletes intensified their training after the European Championships in Glasgow.

After the successful completion of the basic training in April of this year, also Pit Brandenburger was also chosen to represent the Luxembourg Army. Having just missed the European Championship qualifier, the 23-year-old has been preparing for the World Cup since the national championships at the beginning of July. His focus will be to undercut the standard time for the 2019 World Cup in Gwangju (South Korea) in the 200 metres freestyle (1:51.16 minutes) and 400 metre freestyle (3:56.14 minutes).
