The Luxembourg Swimming Federation (Fédération Luxembourgeoise de Natation et de Sauvetage - FLNS) is currently competing at the "Sette Colli" international swimming festival in Rome, Italy.

On the second day of competition, Saturday 26 June, Luxembourg's Max Mannes has set a national record in the Men's 50m backstroke.

He became the first Luxembourg swimmer to swim under the 26-second limit over 50m backstroke. He set a time of 25.91 seconds as he snatched the twelve-year-old national record (26.12 seconds) from Jean-Francois Schneiders.

At the European Championships in Budapest in May, Max missed the old record by two hundredths of a second. From Rome, he stated "I finally got off to a good start and was able to keep my speed high. There is still some room for improvement when it hits, but backstroke swimming is always pretty good in the difficult outdoor pool" after the race.

Max Mannes' record was not the only notable performance of the day, with Pit Brandenburger and Remi Fabiani competing in the prestigious 100m freestyle race. After setting a national record on Friday in the 50m freestyle (22.54 seconds), Remi Fabiani set a new personal best in 51.47 in the 100m freestyle. Pit Brandenburger finished in 51.68 seconds.

In the 50m breaststroke, Raphael Stacchiotti swam the race in 30.02 seconds, with Joao Carneiro putting in a solid performance in the 200m butterfly in 2:03.96.
