POST Luxembourg has confirmed that its customers once again sent their New Year greetings via mobile internet and SMS; the use of SMS witnessed an increase of 72% compared to the previous year.
Between 31 December 2022 and 1 January 2023, the total number of SMS sent on the POST mobile network was 653,234, i.e. an increase of 72% over one year (up from 379,300 SMS sent for New Year 2022). The number of SMS sent for New Year 2023 was still lower than in previous years (New Year 2021: 831,700 SMS; New Year 2020: 1.11 million).
The volume of greetings sent by instant messaging and social networks remained stable: during these two days, 168 terabytes (TB) of data were exchanged on the mobile internet across all networks combined (2G, 4G and 5G), i.e. 1.8% more than the previous year (165 TB).
