In the Swedish Open tennis tournament currently being played in Stockholm, Luxembourg's Mandy Minella (ranked #231) lost in the first round proper against wild-card 19 year-old Rebecca Peterson (Sweden, ranked #164), 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
Serena Williams, fresh from her Wimbledon triumph, is the tournament's top seed.
In the qualifying matches, Mandy Minella had defeated Renata Voracova, the 10th seed from Czech Republic, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, and then Paula Kania, the second seed from Poland, 6-1, 6-3.
Meanwhile, in the Women's Doubles tournament, Mandy Minella and playing partner Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic, are third seeds. Their first match will be against Ysaline Bonaventure of Belgium and Rebecca Peterson, her vanquer in the singles.
