In Wednesday's eight matches in the Round-of-16 at the BGL BNP Paribas Luxembourg tennis open being played this week at the CK Sports Centre in Kockelscheuer, both of Britain's players won their respective matches.

Naomi Broady (lucky loser) defeated (wild card) Sabine Lisicki (Ger) 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, while compatriot Heather Watson defeated Anett Kontaveit (Est), 6-4, 6-4. In the quarter-finals, Naomi Broady will play Monica Puig (Pur) who defeated Alison Van Uytvanck (Bel) 7-6, 7-6; Heather Watson will play Elise Mertens (Bel) who defeated Madison Brengle (USA) 6-2, 0-6, 6-3.

In the bottom half of the draw, Johanna Larsson defeated Beatriz Haddad Maia (Bra) 3-6, 7-6, 6-2; Pauline Parmentier (Fra) defeated Veronica Cepede Royg (Par) 7-5, 6-1; Carina Witthoeft (Ger) defeated Evygenia Rodina (Rus) 6-2, 6-3; and Kiki Bertens won when her opponent, Andrea Petrovic retired hurt with the scores 6-2, 2-1.
