Luxembourg scored an emphatic 5-0 victory in their Davis Cup men's team tennis competition (Group II Europe/Africa Zone) match played at the National Tennis Centre in Esch-sur-Alzette at the week-end.

In Day 1 of Davis Cup action on Saturday, Gilles Muller led off with a straight sets win over Zura Tkemaladze (6-3, 6-2), with Ugo Nastasi following up with a three-sets win over George Tsivadze, coming from behind to win 3-6, 7-5, 6-4.

Team Luxembourg needed just one more win in either doubles or the reverse singles to clinch the win and remain in Group II of the Europe/Africa Zone.

This they did on Sunday, with a 13:00 start, seeing Gilles Muller and Ugo Nastasitaking on George Tsivadze and Aleksandre Metreveli, winning in two sets, 6-3, 6-1, to clinch the tie.

This was followed by Alex Knaff defeating Vazha Shubladze 6-1, 6-2, and Christophe Tholl wrapping things up against Zura Tkemaladze, 6-4, 6-4.

Under the captaincy of Johny Goudenbour, the non-playing team member was Robi Tholl.​
