On Tuesday, the organisers of the BGL BNP Paribas WTA Luxembourg Open tennis championships held a press conference at the Garage Kremer (KIA) in Mersch to reveal more information on players to participate in this year's tournament being beld from 13 - 20 October in the CK Sportcenter in Kockelscheuer.

The first two days of the tournament will be qualifying rounds with a field of 32 players. The singles main draw will have a field of 32 players and 16 doubles pairs.

The participation of three players was announced: Victoria Azarenka (28 years-old, ranked #87), former WTA No. 1 and Luxembourg champion in 2011; Monica Puig (24 years-old, ranked #72), 2016 Olympic champion and runner-up in Luxembourg in 2017; and Andrea Petkovic (30 years-old, ranked #98), making her 10th appearance in Luxembourg. They will be joining the previously announced Sloane Stephens (25 years-old, ranked #4) in the draw.
