On Sunday 22 July 2018, Luxembourg's Mandy Minella finished as runner-up in the Ladies Championships Gstaad by Ixion Services, in Switzerland, when she lost the final in two sets to Alizé Cornet.

Top seed Alizé Cornet won by 6-4, 7-6(6), for her sixth career singles title. Mandy Minella had been aiming for her 3rd singles title, and the first since becoming a mother last year.

Despite losing the final, 32 year-old Mandy Minella had come from a set down in the semi-final to defeat 19 year-old Marketa Vondrousova (Czech Republic) to reach her first WTA final, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.

Though she’s won two career WTA doubles titles in her career, Minella was previously 0-4 in her previous appearances in a singles semi-final at tour level. She does own one WTA 125K singles title, having triumphed at the inaugural edition of the Croatia Bol Open two years ago.

To get to the final, Alizé Cornet had defeated Eugenie Bouchard in the semi-final.
