In the qualifying rounds for tennis' first grand slam tournament of the year being held in Melbourne, Australia, Luxembourg's Mandy Minella was seeded #2.
Mandy Minella (ranked #103 in the world rankings going into this tournament) won her first round match against Pemra Ozgen of Turkey (ranked #237), 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, and then lost her second round match against Olga Govortsova of Belarus (ranked #390), 1-6, 6-1, 5-7.
