Butterfly Garden;

When Easter falls before 1 April, the Butterfly Garden in Grevenmacher opens earlier than usual; 2018 is such a year - from Good Friday, 30 March 2018, the tropical garden on the banks of the Moselle will be open to visitors.

Winter was busy at the Butterfly Garden: the roof of the greenhouse was completely renovated, the pond was cleaned and refurbished, the plants were maintained, the ground was newly covered with lava rock and everything was thoroughly cleaned.

Like every year, a magical world of tropical butterflies awaits the visitors. In high season, there are between 30 and 40 varieties of butterflies of all colours and sizes. Visitors can watch these wonderful insects eat, fly and rest; and learn about the metamorphosis of butterflies and other information panels through the garden.

A highlight of the 2018 season is the small greenhouse adjacent to the garden. After opening its doors in 2017, giving visitors the opportunity to observe the garden's biologist hang chrysalis and ask him questions, the offer is now being extended to this greenhouse.

The employees sow and grow plants, including varieties of lemon balm, sage and mint. These plants, which they also sell, are perfect for a summer salad or tea. Also planned during the season are events and workshops on various topics for both young people and adults.

Sammy, the garden's Yemen chameleon, greets visitors in the small greenhouse. His colleague, the Panther Chameleon Jack, has been part of the family since 2017.

No matter the weather, the butterfly garden in Grevenmacher is always nice with a constant temperature of 27° and humidity of 80%.

In the shop, visitors will find original souvenirs, gift ideas and books on nature. It also sells the entire range of products from its sheltered workshops. Its brasserie invites visitors to have a drink and a small meal, and to enjoy the peace and quiet on the terrace. Pastries, cookies and cakes are delivered daily by their own bakery.

Easter weekend, a big and long opening weekend, has special surprises awaiting visitors.
