The centenary of the signing of the Armistice will be commemorated this Sunday with a remembrance ceremony at the Gelle Fra and the US Embassy's annual Veteran's Day ceremony at the Luxembourg American Military Cemetery.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended the First World War, a national commemoration ceremony will be held on Sunday 11 November 2018 at the Monument of Remembrance (Gelle Fra) in the presence of Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, members of the government and other national authorities and the diplomatic corps accredited to the Luxembourg Head of State.

Upon their arrival at the Place of the Constitution, the Grand Ducal couple will be welcomed by the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Gast Gibéryen, Prime Minister and Minister of State Xavier Bettel and Mayor of the City of Luxembourg Lydie Polfer. Xavier Bettel will later deliver a speech before the laying of a wreath of flowers in front of the memorial by the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess. Music will be provided by the Grand Brass Ensemble of the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg.

Also marking the end of hostilities 100 years ago will be the annual Veteran's Day, organised by the US Embassy in Luxembourg in honour of American veterans of all wars. This ceremony, which is open to the public, will also take place this Sunday at 11:00 at the Luxembourg American Military Cemetery & Memorial in Hamm.
