The City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg - VdL) has announced the return of the "Mäertchen" (Octave market) to Place de la Constitution (Gëlle Fra), from Saturday 20 April to Sunday 5 May 2024.

This traditional market for pilgrims has grown in popularity over the years and today includes food but also game stands and fairground attractions. As VdL explained, the Mäertchen attracts thousands of visitors to the city centre every year.

This year's market features a total of 44 stands, which will be open every day from 11:00 to 22:00. Various food stands will be offering open-air terraces. Visitors can thus enjoy a serving of the traditional "gebakene Fësch" (fried fish) and other Mäertchen delicacies either on-site or for take away.

VdL added that efforts have been made once again to ensure the market is accessible for people with reduced mobility. Local non-profit organisation Info-Handicap will carry out a compliance check on Friday 19 April 2024. An accessible toilet is also being set up on Place de la Constitution. Further information about accessibility is available (from 19 April) on the website www.eurewelcome.lu or by contacting the VdL Integration and Special Needs Department via tel.: 4796 -4150 or via email: integratioun@vdl.lu.
