On Thursday evening, Gulf Luxembourg celebrated 15 years in the Grand Duchy with a reception at Hitch in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg in the presence of Minister for the Economy, Etienne Schneider.
The fuel company operates 15 service stations in Luxembourg - on average, one has opened every year here - and employs 220 people, of which 130 are involved in direct subsidiaries in the commercial, technical and real estate domains. Group management is provided by Claude Baer, Marc and Mario Reiff and members of management André Thelen (Sales), José Bonaventure (Finance) and Thierry van Ingelgom (Human Resources).
In 2001, five local business partners acquired the Gulf licence and set up a distribution structure and proper administration. Consequently, Gulf Luxembourg became exclusive distributor for fuel and oil of that brand across the Grand Duchy. The first Gulf service station was opened in August 2001.
Unlike other oil companies, Gulf Luxembourg is a purely domestic company, well established in the Grand Duchy with local partners. As a result, all strategic decisions are taken here.
Partnerships with other major service providers from Luxembourg and active nationally, e.g. with the Cactus group, POST, and the National Lottery which strengthen local presence.
Since 2008, the Shoppi concept has been implemented at all Gulf Stores. This concept, which was developed with the Cactus group, is in the convenience shopping line. Specifically, Shoppis allow fast and comfortable shopping all offering a variety of catered food, fresh produce, baked goods and other items of daily life. In many Shoppis, customers enjoy the services of a "point POST".
100,000 gifts during "Crazy Gulf Days"
To celebrate its 15th anniversary, Gulf Luxembourg is distributing 100,000 gifts to customers for 100 days. Among the jackpot, there is a legendary Jeep Renegade in the colours of Gulf Racing, a trip to New York and two tickets to the music festival 'Tomorrowland' in Belgium. This anniversary promotion is under the slogan "Crazy Gulf Days" and takes place until 23 December 2016. For the purchase of a minimum of 25 litres of fuel, a scratch card is offered to customers; as well as per 500 litres of fuel purchased.
