A total of three new tram stops will then be served, at "Theater", "Faïencerie" and "Stäreplaz/Etoil". In the meantime, trams have already started to travel the network extension in a trial phase.
Antonio CAMPOS, Director Europe West of CAF made a presentation on the quick-charging technology in use at the Theatre tram stop: one significant difference in the tram system the city side of the Red Bridge compared to the Kirchberg side, is that overhead cables are no longer used to power the trams; instead, this will be achieved by the quick-charging units at the various tram stops on the tram route through the city.
After Zaragoza in Spain, Luxembourg is the second city in Europe where the Spanish manufacturer CAF has implemented this new state-of-the-art tramway technology.
