Logistics provider Dachser has announced the acquisition of all the shares of its Chilean subsidiary.

The transport and logistics provider entered the Chilean market in 2009 as a joint venture and has now acquired all shares in its Chilean subsidiary.

Guido Gries, Managing Director DACHSER Air & Sea Logistics Americas, commented: "Chile is one of the strongest and most stable economies in South America and plays a major role in intra-US trade along the Pacific coast. We want to expand our presence in the country and integrate Dachser Chile into our region and our global logistics network."

Another advantage of being present in Chile is that the country has strong economic and trade links with Argentina, Brazil, Asia, Oceania and Europe. Its main exports are copper, fish, fruit, paper, wine and minerals.

Frank Habermann, now Managing Director of Dachser Chile having joined in 2013 as Head of Sales, concluded: "We offer our clients a full range of services: air and sea transport with customs clearance, warehousing and value-added services; as well as the transportation of special and heavy products, such as the mining industry, which is a big part of the Chilean economy."

Dachser Chile currently has 22 employees in the capital city of Santiago and generates €6.3 million of turnover per year.
